Hi Naranhkiri,
First let me introduce myself, I'm a Vietnamese-Australian and currently studying at Griffith University. I just started university and taking international relation as I have been interested in international politics since 14, now I'm 21.
As a Vietnamese I was not aware of much of the mistreatment of Cambodian by the Vietnamese people, that you have described and feel that I should make an apology on behalf of my people for the pain my people have caused the Khmers. My sincere apology again to your people.
Even though I'm a 1st year uni student and scored bad in my english exam; hence my bad spelling and grammar, you might find my talent quite useful. Before I start I just wanted to let you know I disagree with your constant assumption that Vietnam is all the cause of all Cambodia's problem.
Ok,the thing I want to point out is that your plan resembles any human rights activist plans... which is stress the problem to the public and appeal to the US government for help. I think you lack allot of tactics and understanding of the world politics. Not to be offensive but you seem to stress the problem not the solution like take down Hu Shen but not elaborate on how, your solution resolves around the fall of communism in Vietnam and begging US government to take another look at the problem which you don't understand can take decades. Also you understand yourself very well but how well do you know the enemy in this case Vietnamese. Theres alot of problem in your path to freedom because its a simple plan, a protest or demonstration will get the same result.
Please don't take it to offense but just think about it. Hope it helps
Regards Peter

Dear Dr. Kiri, Having read your writing on this site, I am amazed with what you have achieved and the great writings you made here. I would just like to say hello and to let you know that I am now a Cambodian student studyin abroad -Japan. I am 22 years old, doing Master Degree in International Peace Studies. My thesis will be focusing on the Cambodia-Vietname relations. Specifically, I will write about the reconciliation of the enemies in International Relations. I would like some of your comments concerning this matter, if you have any. As I see one of your main theme here is Cam-Viet Relation, I will further read your article more. For sure, I save your link for further visiting. Best regards, Sokunthea ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Subject: So wonderful to see you're still keeping active, but so sad not to have seen -- or heard from -- you over these years
Dearest Kiri: Ever the pedant, I found a typo in the first line, above. (Any comments - negative or poisitive...) On a more serious note, I agree(d) with your statement on Obama (and it was a kick seeing the old photos), but recently he really turned me off. Specifically, when he was asked whether he would repudiate the minister of his church for his allegedly intemperate remarks--I myself didn't find the minister's comments particularly offensive, for I agree with his assessment that there is much in American history for which my compatriots should be "damned" -- Obama replied, among other things, "No, for he was the man who brought me to Jesus." Well, after just having watched the documentary, "Jesus Camp," and after a lifetime of seeing what's been done in the name of Jesus, etc., and what the mindlessness of religious faith has wrought in this sad and brutal world, I take terrific offense at Obama's appeal to that divisively ugly phrase, "brought me to Jesus." But I guess it doesn't really matter, because I had long ago decided only to vote for a candidate whose platform included the promise to pursue the prosecution of every responsible member of the Bush/Cheney administration for the illegal war of aggression they initiated in Iraq, and for the crimes against international law they've committed in its course. And no presidential aspirant, particularly one trying to woo the Jesus fundamentalists to his camp, is going to do that, any more than Carter or Clinton would prosecute Kissinger for his criminal actions, which helped bring about the horrendous events in Cambodia. Also, I guess I've come to the conclusion that a new president, however brilliant and decent, and however unlike Bush (or for that matter, Clinton and Reagan) he may be, is not going to change the fundamental problem of the American mind-set -- arrogant, complacent, self-assurance in the country's moral superiority, and ever steadfastly unwilling to admit to (often egregious) mistakes. None of the candidates is really talking turkey to the American public, telling the people what they've got to come to grips with if they hope to change, so the p By the way, on another note, do you remember the full name of the Sri Lankan EWC student in the last photo? All the best to you and Pat from Evelyn, too, Dave

Dear Kiri,
Thank you for asking, and you are very welcome to do so. The whole KRTribunal situation is a black farce as things stand, and I frankly can't understand why the international judges haven't walked away already.
More than incidentally, I think the web site for the tribunal is excellent.
Warmest wishes,
Milton
Dear Dr. Naranhkiri,
Thanks for your message. Your web site that helping most is
because one part of my research is related to "Khmer Rouge Trail and searching
Justice for the Victims of Khmer Rouge Regime".
I admire your point of views on Cambodia's politics, particular you dared to
criticise King Sihanouk even though, I saw your picture and your wife having a
dinner with the King and King's wife. Indeed, I do agree on what you had
mention that Mr. Keat Chaun (Minister of Economic and Finance in Cambodia)
should to go trial for his past with Pol Pot. I knew what Mr. Keat Chaun did during
Khmer Rouge regime when I read my uncle confession when he was in prison
S-21 and other confessions that
published by Mr. Youk Chhang.
Regards.

What I have learned from many sources of news: Cambodian news, Associate
Press news about Cambodia, China news and some others news which I cannot
recall, you probably have not shown enough. Sir, I'm not a politician who can list
all facts about Cambodia and its people. My determination depends on these
news that Hun Sen is not the only person who tries to stop KRT from going
forward. There are more individuals behind this important trial who try to cut it
short so their faces won't be revealed to the world.
Although Sihanouk I believe, plays, if not giant but at least large enough role to
cause a lot of innocent Khmer people died. Also Vietnam and Chinese are involved in this, and all of them should be held accountable.
What should we do to keep KRT alive? so Cambodian people can receive somewhat justice for their loved ones.
I believe every Cambodian should pursue the legitimate way through international.
Khmer people must fight hard in order to earn the international helps.
Khmer people must put their anger to rest at this time and seek lawful way to fight these criminals until their faces scratched off.
Dr. Tith, May we impose on you to do just a bit more than what you're doing now please? A scholar and a nationalist such as yourself is rather a rare breed to Khmer people.
Why can't you take the initiative to becoming Khmer unifier and lead us for a better future?
Very truly yours, At Keo
My Profuse Thanks

Dear Dr. Tith,
Thanks a million for taking your invaluable time to reply to my e-mail and to have elaborated with such details and yet with just a simple and clear language on yourpolitical and academic stance with regards to the future of our homeland. Your nationalistic thinkings are unparalleled when it comes to Cambodia, her fate, her danger and Khmer people as a whole. And for that Dr. Tith, I have nothing but great admiration and utmost respect for you and for what you have done. May I finally say that you have a fan here Dr. Tith? Thanks a million again for everything.
God bless.
Respectfully yours,
At Keo
